Sustainable Outdoor Adventures: Leave No Trace
How to keep trips practical and low impact, whether you are in a van, under canvas or carrying your kit in on foot.

Use what you already own for longer
The most sustainable piece of kit is usually the one already in your cupboard. Repairing tent poles, replacing a gas hose or buying a missing bracket can keep useful gear on the road for years longer.
Plan resupply and waste properly
Small habits matter. Carry a rubbish bag you will actually use, refill water where it is allowed, and keep food planning realistic so you are not binning unused supplies after each trip.
- Refill rather than rebuy where local facilities allow it
- Choose durable kitchen kit over disposable camping extras
- Check whether old electrical kit can be repaired before replacing it
Travel with local communities in mind
Responsible travel is also about where you park, shop and camp. Spend locally when you can, follow local access rules and avoid treating quiet communities like a free overnight car park.
